Nuclear energy creates an uneasy feeling of danger for many people: ancient and dangerous minerals are concentrated to awaken seemingly unnatural powers, creating toxic elements that, if they escape, can and have killed people in horrible ways. How many people has nuclear energy killed and how?

    • I can't find your sources documents so I can learn# go kurzgesagt :D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • @Henry Walke Yes we could, until the first rocket explodes above your state and burning highly toxic and highly radioactive material falls on your home. Good luck with that.

    • I think im too late

    • Can you please make a Video about ringworld

    • I am 376th person to comment

  • when discussing nuclear energy kill china : coming out from nowhere and get blamed for its dam me : wait, is that how media work here, great

  • clickbait thumbnails be like 1:34 only 20 can see the flower

  • You guys should do a video on what effect the long term lack of direct and/or indirect sunlight has on a person's psyche, person, body and its operation etc.

  • Make a video on Land Value Tax!

  • May I suggest an informative video on the nature of gender? I think that might be a very interesting topic given certain social conversations rising in frequency in the last decade

  • Kurzgesagt is Infographics show on steroids

  • Okay Everyone! Let's go Nuclear!

  • Ok

  • Where are you?

  • His voice makes me sleepy 😴

  • 4k WHEN?

  • 4:25 Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated~ 🎵

  • Yes please for the nuclear waste video!!

  • POV: your favorite ISprofile channel hasn't uploaded in a while

  • Someone pronounce his name

  • DONT put the waste in the ground. Build a tower and put the waste on top.

  • Make new video or I will cry in a corner

  • "Ferb, I know what to do today."

  • We Need to think and work more in collective solutions , I would love to watch more videos that show How how ordinary people can contribute or Ways for a world 100%sustainable for economy and well-being of The whole ecosystem. I know I am asking for a video that shows the Utopia that I do believe still could possible happen and what what each word citizen Should do to make that happen day by day.... Video that show possible future according with our world politics or different history life time, I mean. "What if 's" ex: (what if Cience / Philosophy was a religion how would the history be written, Or the opposite like Comunism world. Would be nowadays. What if the Adolf Hit. Succed, how would be our present, Or like What the Next species after us could wake up and Conquer the World, Why we as human species promote the waken process of other species too, etc... just silly ideas but maybe someone like... Thank you for reading until here 😅.

  • yoo did someone elsecsee the doofenshmirtz tower

  • Cool. Now make a video about how many people has Christianity and Islam killed. I DARE YOU!!

    • That will be too controversial

  • I'm pretty sure we can all say that we've learned more things then we ha e from school

  • 日本語字幕お願いします🙇‍♂️Could you add Japanese subtitles to your videos?

  • Nice vedio pro💢

  • Man died of radiation poisoning, he hasn’t posted

  • While me studying petroleum engineering be like 😶

  • Can you make a video on the concept of budyko to replicate the effects of a vulcanic eruption to battle climate change?

  • Nuclear all the way!!! at least for now

  • Please make a video on nuclear waste

  • Perfect.wohohoho

  • i would very much like to learn about what we do with nuclear waste

    • Bury it in a hole, the Finnish are working on a massive permanent storage for it.

  • What about the deaths caused by renewable energy sources failing? A lot of people are citing wind turbine failure as one of the causes of the power outages during the recent storms in Texas, which led to at least 10 deaths.

  • One thing he didn't say is that green energy is not 100% "green". The pollution from making those green energy devices is sometimes so large that it takes a large portion of its lifetime to compensate.

  • thorium gang

  • 4:25 did anyone see the doofenshmertz evil encorporate

  • They’re phasing out nuclear because apparently no one could pronounce it correctly.

  • 4:24 Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated~

  • The WHO is not a reliable source. You might just as well quote from the CCP.

  • The fabulous syrup splenomegaly flap because walk steadily mess up versus a neat control. terrible, resolute nepal

  • I just want to point out that electricity is produced mostly by burning coal. Where will we dispose the millions of lithium batteries? windmills kill birds. We need nuclear FUSION which is 100% efficient with no waste material but this is beyond our current technical expertise. Perhaps in the 22nd century?

  • “Me grew up with death fog, big green glow stick scary” - some idiot

  • @ Kurzgesagt - In a Nutshell There were 526 250 liqiudators of Chernobyl catastrophe. They were gathered from all parts of USSR. No statistics exist or research performed to check exposure to radiation harm on those people. Video doesn't mention how many people struggle for life going back and forth from hospital due to the incident. I agree, there's no fact checkable source unfortunately, and those reports by WHO, UN and Greens are just their estimation from the numbers they could get their hands on. Soviet Union hid everything to save face, later in 90s there were no sufficient resources to do a research. Now no one cares and it is impossible even to find all names of the liquidators. And that's only a part of the story. Civilians from cities and villages in the area affected too. They are also not in the numbers of WHO as you can't fact check it. There's simply no records about those people and no proper research. There are unofficial numbers from liquidators organization: "According to Vyacheslav Grishin, a representative of the Chernobyl Union (an organization that unites liquidators from all over the CIS and the Baltic States), “25,000 liquidators from Russia are now dead and 70,000 are disabled, approximately the same is the situation in Ukraine, and 10,000 liquidators from Belarus are now dead and 25,000 have a disability ”, which is a total of 60,000 dead (10% of 600,000 liquidators) and 165,000 disabled [8]." -wiki It should be treated with a grain of salt as no analysis performed how those numbers correspond to life expectancy and disability. But I believe Kurzgesagt could at least mention it. Otherwise numbers they showed and a conclusion they made could be far from truth.

  • I want nuclear waste *now*

    • @Kurzgesagt - In a Nutshell send one to me,address is Kaiga nuclear plant, I will receive from there

    • @Kurzgesagt - In a Nutshell thanks

    • A package with nuclear waste has been sent to your location.

  • 👇🏻This is how many people love his animations!!! His videos are so good 🙂

  • The only question remains: who should you trust, this video and people like my dad that work as engineers in nuclear reactors? Or uneducated retards on social media?

  • 1: Most estimates of the dangers of nuclear energy are done considering the most widely used reactor types, the pressurized light water reactors, there are safer and more efficient and reliable types of reactors that are "nuclear" that are a feasible, pressurized light water became the main type because it's relatively easy and cheap to build the reactor itself, and lets the builder focus more resources on the acquisition, handling and disposing of fissile material and radioactive waste, wohever they are not as a viable in the long term as other forms of reactors. 2: even so, a possible alternative to nuclear waste issues could be to yeet them into space to collide with either the sun or jupiter.

  • In my opinion child labour is the cheapest and cost-effective energy producing method, I mean, the 'genrator' in my basement works really well.

  • 4:25 is a building from phineas and pherb. the home of the evil scientist. Nice Easter Egg!!!

  • make a video about thorium reactors they're like the uranium reactors you talked about in this video but they don't have meltdowns, they produce A LOT less nuclear waste and the nuclear waste they do produce only lasts for 500 hundred years not 100,000 thousand years

  • one word: thorium

  • Look at that- it’s a throw back to 5 years ago when you explained a little about this! Haha what a coincidence!

  • 0:35 日本多すぎやろ…

  • Video have been cut from 3:25 - 4:12 in Chinese website named Bilibili.

  • I think you guys should expand your team so we can get videos more often..

  • Make a video on optical computing.

  • Only 30 pols died at pripyat??? I'd like to see where they got that number. Pretty sure it was somewhere in the thousands that's died

  • ~skellyton~

  • If we not have you= no brain

  • How many lives would it cost when the radioactive water is dumped in the ocean?

  • E

  • I would like a video about long term storage of nuclear waste

  • "When will you replace fossil fuels with nuclear energy?" Governments: Yes

  • What the actual fuck Germany? Explain yourself!

  • After watching this video, from now on, kurz has nothing to do with fairness and objectivity. Very disappointed.

    • @viktor1496 Finally, thank you for your comments

    • @viktor1496 I agree with you that, by modern standards, the Soviet Union has indeed performed badly, but in my opinion, Japan's handling is nothing more than the help of science and technology(Because science and technology have developed rapidly in the past decade), and it is not much better than the Soviet Union politically. In terms of concentrating resources and transferring troops, the Soviet Union is obviously better than Japan.

    • @bug酱- Ah sorry for misinterpreting your message. I do still disagree with that statement though, it is indeed true that the Japanese Government had much better tools at their disposal, but they still handled it relatively well. Chernobyl was a much bigger disaster and the first and only of its kind. When it happened the USSR government underestimated the danger, did not know what they were dealing with (the soviet leaders at that time had no understanding of nuclear dangers).....etc. It may be unfair to see it out of context, but the soviets handled it very, VERY badly compared to modern standards. It is simple fact that it took hours and hours before evacuation began and the media channels downplayed it immensely at first.

    • @viktor1496 In the Soviet era, there was no such developed Internet to spread information.

    • @viktor1496 Some of us do not agree with the previous discussion, because of the comparison between Chernobyl and Fukushima. It is very subjective to say that the Soviet Union did not deal with it in a timely manner, while Japan dealt with it in a timely manner.

    • Is there still anyone who didnt know about RJVX12?

  • Amazing animations!

  • I think we would all love a video about nuclear waste, maybe also talk about solutions to reduce it?

  • Nuclear is the future if people could get pass their fear of it. It's the most efficient and cheapest long term.

  • I miss bi-weekly uploads.... :*(

    • Remember quality over quantity

  • So I know Kurzgesagt is still making another vid for us, and I also know they're working hard on it, especially with the coronavirus. So, I just wanna say thank you for scaring us, inspiring us, and making us more ambitious for our far future.

  • @Kurzgesagt - In a Nutshell I have a great idea. You could hook up with some game developers like Dani,Brackeys,Jabrills, devduck to create a game. You could make the assets like models animations and sound while they could code the whole thing. I think a civilization building game in your art style would be cool. Sorta like civ v but with space and all the topics you coverned on the universe and space.

  • I'm sad because there are no subtitles in Spanish 🥲🥲🥲🥲

  • Id think a video about taking the salt out of the ocean would be interesting.

  • hey Kurzgesagt please make a video on alcubierre warp drive

  • Why does kursgesagt have a playlist called "existential crisis playlist"

    • Theyre very aware theyre giving us existential crisis, so they made a playlist for that.

  • Vocês deveriam fazer conteúdo dublado para o português BR, com certeza o publico daqui daria suporte pro conteúdo de vocês! Altíssima qualidade do conteúdo e da animação. Think about it.

  • Too bad fossil fuels will never be phased out because then big corp loses money :(

  • 6:45, Did half a person die?

  • Is there still anyone who didnt know about RJVX12?

  • Thanks god i knew about this unique algorithm RJVX12

  • Why so risky? Just google RJVX12 and dont worry about crypto rates

  • RJVX12 bring me 300% profit because of Tesla pump

  • just google RJVX12 algorithm and don't worry

  • RJVX12 algorithm is the best, there is no point in arguing with this

  • Guys, you are tired, before doing reviews, you first read about RJVX12 algorithm

  • RJVX12 algorithm is the best cryptocurrency investment in my life

  • RJVX12 algorithm is my choice, i dont worry about BTC rates at all

  • is there really still a person who does not know about the existence of RJVX12 algorithm?

  • a video about nuclear waste. PLEASE 🥺

  • im scared will i be ok here in brazil?

  • Wow I watched this video almost 5 million times. I'm an egg.

  • Renewables are resource intensive, compared to conventional sources; you should include all the deaths to mine and transport the materials required to renewable generation and storage including fossil fuels. Also fossil fuels can be burned cleanly, there is no significant difference in terms of lung cancer rates, for citizens living in cities in western Europe compared to those living in the countryside.
